Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)
Why didn't Jesus say today you will be with me in Heaven? Did you ever wonder about that?
Is there a difference between Paradise and Heaven?
Was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell. ((II Corinthians 12:4)
Was the Apostle Paul caught up to Heaven?
The spirit world is an unbelievably large area. All of the dead are there, from the beginning of the history of the world.
In the spirit world there is a city. We can call it Heaven, Mount Zion, the new Jerusalem. It is the same city that one day will come down through the new sky and be installed for eternity upon the new earth.
But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22-24)
The above is a description of what we mean by "Heaven." Notice that the emphasis is on salvation, not Paradise. The spirit of every true Christian already is in Heaven, in the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God.
