Your Strength Shall Be as Your Days
The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days (Deuteronomy 33:25)
God brings us to the place where we have strength only for the current day. But we do have strength for that day to do the Lord's will!
I have been blessed with the Abenaki (Indian) saying that when we go on a long trip we watch our feet. In other words, we do have a goal, even though far off. But we watch carefully and prayerfully what is taking place right now.
Our tendency as human beings is to live in the future. However, many of the fears we anticipate never do happen. Isn't that so?
Did you ever watch people when an airplane is landing? The moment the bell rings they leap to their feet. There they stand for several minutes in an uncomfortable position until the doors open for them to disembark.
They could just as well remain seated until the line began to move. Then they could have taken their place at the end of the line and walked off gracefully.
You see they were not "watching their feet" so to speak. They were not aware of how uncomfortable they were. In their mind they already were moving to the door and getting off the plane. If there was to be someone to meet them, they already in their mind were meeting that person and going to collect their baggage. In fact, they may have been planning what to do when they got home.
The line still wasn't moving.
Had they been more aware of their present circumstances they would have realized that in their anxiety to get off the plane they had left their purse. Also, they had taken off their shoes during the flight and had forgotten to put them back on.
They were not aware of what was taking place at the moment.
