Sermon preached at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church (Sioux Falls, SD) by Pr. Benjamin Tomczak.
Yet I accuse God of tantalizing me, dangling the truth just beyond my reach. Of ignoring me when I think I know his will. Of doing nothing when he’s actually done everything. God speaks clearly, simply, plainly. That doesn’t mean I hear it, do it, or understand it. So Moses reminds Israel that God does speak clearly. He brings the word very near to you. That’s Paul grand conclusion in Romans 10, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?...Faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
