The various accounts of the individuals in the Old Testament serve as reminders to us of the mercy and grace of God. They also remind us of the failures of individuals and how God dealt with them. The Apostle Paul tells us that we are to look to them as examples so that the same things that happened to them don’t happen to us. In 1 Samuel we transition from the period of the Judges to the period of the Prophets and Kings of Israel.
