The scriptures teach that John the Baptizer preached a message of repentance and baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Then, Jesus came desiring to be baptized by John! For what possible reason would Jesus have to be baptized? He had no wrong for which He needed to repent, and He had no sins for which He needed forgiveness. As baptism washes away one's sins (Acts 22:16), why would Jesus need to be baptized?
