THE OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR AND THE END OF THE AGE
The Old Time Gospel Hour is a one hour television program which originates from the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia. This color telecast of the Sunday morning service of this church comprises the largest television network in the world. Dr. Jerry Falwell is Speaker for The Old Time Gospel Hour as well as Pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church.
It seems that God has raised up several broadcasters on television and radio who are preaching the gospel “to every creature” in these days. Further, there is more preaching and teaching on prophecy than ever before. Most Bible scholars agree that this age is quickly coming to a close. Almost everyone, religious or otherwise, agrees that our planet is on a collision course with something.
THE LATE GREAT PLANET EARTH by Hal Lindsey is probably the greatest book written in this century on the coming of the Lord and the end of the age. At least, it has certainly been the most popular. Dr. Falwell felt that this book beset presents the pre-millennial view held by the Old Time Gospel Hour and the Thomas Road Baptist Church. For that reason, this book is being made available to the thousands of friends of this television and radio ministry.
We sincerely feel that this book will spiritually strengthen anyone who reads it. Read it carefully with your Bible in hand.
Jerry Lamon Falwell, Sr. was an American Baptist, televangelist, and a conservative commentator. He was the founding pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church, a megachurch in Lynchburg, Virginia. He founded Lynchburg Christian Academy (now Liberty Christian Academy) in 1967, Liberty University in 1971, and cofounded the Moral Majority in 19779.
Falwell led services at Thomas Road for many years. During his tenure, it changed affiliations from Baptist Bible Fellowship International, which has fundamentalist sympathies, to the traditional conservative Southern Baptist Convention, and Falwell himself ended his self-identification with fundamentalism in favor of evangelicalism.
In 1956, at age 22, Falwell founded the Thomas Road Baptist Church of Lynchburg, (TRBC) where he served as pastor. The Church went on to become a megachurch, and is now run by Jerry Falwell's son Jonathan Falwell, who serves in the same capacity as his father.
In 1971, Jerry Falwell founded Liberty University, a Christian liberal arts university in Lynchburg, Virginia. Liberty University has approximately 57,000 students of whom about 12,000 are residential students and 45,000 are enrolled online.
