Young people from Christian homes are too often being trained for the world instead of for the Savior; for hell instead of heaven. Ask the average Christian parents today, “For what are you training your children?” Most of them will answer, “For a good job,” or “For financial independence,” or “For the ability to support a family.” The wording may be different but the answers are essentially the same. How many parents hold the work of the Lord before their children as a desirable way in such to spend their lives? We have become basically worldly in outlook and consequently we are bringing forth children for the destroyer.

MacDonald graduated with an AB degree from Tufts College (now University) in 1938 and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 1940. During the 1940's he was on active duty in the US Navy for five years.
He was President of Emmaus Bible College, a teacher, preacher, and Plymouth Brethren theologian alongside his ministry as a writer. He was a close friend and worker with O.J. Gibson.
