James Orsen "Jim" Bakker is an American televangelist, a former Assemblies of God minister, and a former host (with his then-wife Tammy Faye Bakker) of The PTL Club, a popular evangelical Christian television program. A sex scandal led to his resignation from the ministry. Subsequent revelations of accounting fraud brought about his imprisonment and divorce and effectively ended his time in the larger public eye.
Jim Bakker is a living example of the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. He has come forth from prison to a new life and compassion for lost and hurting people. Jim is now speaking at conferences and churches and working in inner-city Los Angeles assisting his son's ministry. He has spent much of his time since prison working in the inner-city ghettos, reaching out to drug addicts and the homeless, and teaching them in Bible classes.
“When you put your total faith in God, no matter what happens, to a person who's a true believer, if you die, you know you're going to heaven to be with God.”
“And God knows I needed to be forgiven. So I had to forgive everybody. And then God - as I read in the word, you're supposed to pray for your enemies. Try that one on.”
“God's forgiveness is the only thing. And, well, I take full responsibility for the adultery. It was my fault and, you know, no matter what went on, the man has to take responsibility; and I do.”
“In the book of Colossians, it talks about that because of what Christ did, we are pure. We are without judgment on ourselves. And only through him can we do something like this.”
“Today, many Christians don’t seem concerned about the Old Testament, but apparently God still has concern for His Law, all the way to the end of time.”
