We learn several things from the account of the seven sons of Sceva. 
 
First, demons are dangerously powerful spirit beings 
 
Second, demons recognize valid authority, and they fear God 
 
Third, demons cannot be cast out with a formula or a ritual

The Message of the Stone 
Isaiah 28:14-17 
 
The message that Isaiah is sharing with Judah is about a stone they can’t relate to right now.  Isaiah is prophesying is what to come. 
  
A. The Source of The Message:  “...The Lord, God...” 
* God speaks and Isaiah delivers the message.  Remember God is still in the blessing business.  He will still make a way.  The prophet comes and delivers a word from the Lord.  
B. The Significance of The Message: “...Behold.....” 
* Listen and pay attention 
* Make sure you understand what you’re going through 
C. The Stone in The Message:   “... A Sure Foundation:”  
* Zion can be the church or Jerusalem 
* Jerusalem is where our hope is (looking East) 
* We need to realize the stone in the message can help us be alright.  It is a foundation that is tried and true. 
* The stone is a precious cornerstone 
* Christ is the Stone/Savior.  
  
His importance is emphasized in three ways: 
1. He is Essential to Salvation! 
2. He is Elected as the Savior! 
3. He is Esteemed in Salvation!

 * He told them to fear God and serve him in sincerity and in truth.

4. Joshua finally, speaks of their alternatives. 
 * Not to worship or serve is not an alternative.  We were created to worship. If they didn’t want to serve the Lord, he told them to “Choose you this day whom you will serve…” 
  
5. The people responded to Joshua, "We will serve the Lord."
