I John 1:1 – 1:9 
So come back to John’s Gospel chapter 3 verse 17. 
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Remember in our last lesson we read - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." All have sinned! Now finishing verse 18. 
"…because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19. And this is the condemnation, (here’s God’s point of controversy) that light (that can expel darkness) is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,.…" I’ve often wondered why barrooms are almost totally dark. 
That "Christ died for our sins, and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." Luke 18:31 
Look at the next verse. 
I John chapter 1 verse 9. Forgiven! 
Paul’s Gospel teaches that the moment you believe, you’re forgiven all trespasses – past, present, and future. But that’s not the way this verse 9 in I John approaches it. Well, this verse in I John is still Kingdom ground. John has no concept of the Gospel of Grace. John has no concept of our relationship with Christ as the Head of the Body. He’s dealing with Jews in the Kingdom economy. Repent and be baptized. Our instructions are that we believe in our heart the finished work of the cross for our salvation! Verse 9 again. 
"If we confess our sins, (if we repent, then) he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,.…" God forgave him. That if we confess our sins – if we repent of our sins as a lot of people are still preaching today, then of course, He’s faithful and just to forgive. Now we’ve got to compare how Paul approaches this whole thing under Grace – Paul, our Apostle of the Gentiles. We’re all sons of Adam. And we’re sinners. Romans 3 verse 23; a verse I think that just about everybody knows from memory. 
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" That’s what verse 23 says. For everybody has sinned and come short of the glory of God, but oh, now read on, verse 24. 
Romans 3:24-25 
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25. Now verse 26. 
Romans 3:26a 
Is that what Paul teaches here? NO!! Romans 3:26b 
"…which believeth in Jesus." 
Shock and awe? God justifies us. 
I Corinthians chapter 1 verse 17 – now what a difference and it’s supposed to be. We’re a whole different economy with Paul’s preaching. We’re not under that Kingdom economy (that was Israel). The Kingdom economy again. (Law) Nothing of Paul’s Gospel of Grace. See? Paul’s epistles. 
What Peter and John were preaching applied to Israel. We’re under the Gospel of the Grace of God, which He gave to Paul for us. All right, I Corinthians chapter 1 verse 17 where Paul writes: 
I Corinthians 1:17a 
"For Christ sent me not to baptize,.…" Well goodness sakes, what did he send John the Baptist to do? I Corinthians 1:17a 
"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel:.…" And that Gospel of Salvation according to I Corinthians 15:1-4 is, "Believe in your heart that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again." 
"For the preaching of the cross (not the Messiahship of Christ, it’s the cross of Christ) is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved (those of us who have now been declared justified by our faith in the finished work of the cross) it is the power of God." 
Leave the Kingdom economy with Israel and believe this Gospel of Grace that’s appropriate for us today (that we receive from the Apostle Paul’s writings). 
This whole long chapter has 58 verses. The resurrection. James and Peter and John never mention it. We just saw where John said that "If we have fellowship one with another and walk in the light then the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us." That’s the only reference those men make to the work of the cross. 
But the Apostle Paul – that’s all he knows – that everything was consummated when Christ went to that cross, shed His blood, was put to death and rose victorious over everything that opposed. Not ‘a’ Gospel of salvation, but ‘the’ Gospel of salvation. 
"Moreover brethren I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2. So you don’t have a choice to choose either the Gospel of the Kingdom which was preached to the Jews by the Twelve, or the Gospel of Grace which was preached by Paul. Because when God saved Paul, and gave him these revelations for the Gentiles in this Church Age, the Gospel we must believe was complete once and for all. So, people that don’t believe Paul’s Gospel are believing in vain. 
All right, "How that he died for our sins according to the Scriptures, the Old Testament.

2 Peter 2:9 – 3:18 - Part 2 
God is real. God is genuine. Still in II Peter but back to chapter 1 verse 16. II Peter 1:16a 
Peter is speaking from first hand experience. 
"I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you (to these Corinthians) by Jesus Christ; 5. Now verse 7. 
that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." All right, back to II Peter now then, verse 15. Peter understood everything that He said and did, so they think, "I’ll follow Peter, not Paul." II Peter 3:15a 
Salvation! All right, so Peter now, writing to Jewish believers, is reminding them that: 
II Peter 3:15b 
"…even as our beloved brother Paul.…" Peter was an apostle of Israel along with the Eleven. Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles, totally separated; and never can you mix the two all together. All right, so in Galatians chapter 2: 
Galatians 2:9a 
"And when James, Cephas, (Peter) and John…." Normally it’s Peter, James and John. Galatians 2:9b 
"Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it." There was nothing there to "pillar" and that’s why Paul uses that. Galatians 2:9b 
(Israel) Paul and Barnabas were designated to be the apostles of the Gentiles. Peter and the Eleven are the apostles of Israel. Gentleman’s agreement. There is nothing in Scripture to indicate that Peter ever went into a ministry with the Gentiles. Paul’s salvation message to us Gentiles is believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again, as we see in I Corinthians 15:1-4. Okay, now verse 11. 
Galatians 2:11 
I think he had to jump on a soapbox to do it, but Peter was eyeball to eyeball with Paul, and Paul was upset. Now we’re pretty confident that Paul had a temper of sorts. Galatians 2:12 
(the Jews) Peter had now come to realize that Paul’s converts were just as much in God’s fold as any Jew could be, and so he ate with the Gentiles. But, when these Jews came from Jerusalem, Peter (bless his heart, and you know what you have to think of? Peter must have been a big guy but he must have had a weak will because you see as soon as these people came from Jerusalem, Peter) chickened out. In other words Peter was fearing them who were of the circumcision. Peter was human, wasn’t he? "Do you know what Peter is doing? He’s back eating with Gentiles again. Now verse 13. 
Galatians 2:13,14a 
"And the other Jews (who were converts and members of Paul’s and Barnabas’ Antioch congregation,) dissembled likewise with him; (in other words, they pulled out with Peter. insomuch that (even) Barnabas (who was back in that first counsel meeting when him and Paul shook hands with Peter, James, and John, to keep separate, Gentiles and the Jews, ) also was carried away with their dissimulation. Well, part and parcel of Paul’s Gospel of grace is that there is no difference. A Jew is just as much in need of salvation as a Gentile. Galatians 2:14b 
So anyway, here Peter has been publicly rebuked by the little Apostle Paul - and I think Paul was a little short fellow. II Peter 3:15b 
"…even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;" Now, he’s talking to Jews, and there’s only one portion of Scripture that Paul wrote to Jews and what would that be? The book of Hebrews. 
And so, from this, I’m quite adamant that Paul wrote Hebrews. All right, but don’t stop there. Now verse 16... II Peter 3:16a 
Salvation. Now, if I could just get some of these people that jump all over me for making too much of Paul to read this, and realize that Peter made just as much of Paul as I do. Peter says, "if you want true salvation, you go to Paul’s epistles," and I say the same thing. If you want to know the real Christian walk in this Age of Grace, you go to Paul’s epistles. II Peter 3:16a 
How could a man with Peter’s experience - with Peter’s walk with the Lord, with Peter’s clout in the church at Jerusalem - tell the whole world that he had problems understanding some of Paul’s writings? It rubs against the grain and Peter admits it by the inspiration of the Spirit. II Peter 3:16b 
What is Peter putting on Paul’s epistles? What Paul writes is just as much the Word of God as what the prophets wrote. It’s just as much the Word of God as what Peter wrote or what Jesus said. It’s all Scripture, according to Scripture. 
All right, now I hope I’ve made my point that Peter admonishes the people today to go to Paul’s epistles; whereas most of Christendom says, go to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. Peter says, "You go to Paul’s epistles, for, in them, is where we know we can find eternal life!" All right, now then, one more verse. Verse 17. 
18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 2:9 – 3:18 
All right, II Peter chapter 3 and we’ll just pick up where we left off in the last lesson, verse 5. 
"For this they willingly are ignorant of, (not because they couldn’t help it, but they don’t want to know) that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6. Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:" In other words, it wasn’t a regional flood, it was universal. The water got ankle deep and a few people woke up and realized Old Noah knew what he was talking about. It was not the rain that destroyed the population, but it’s in this verse right here. Genesis chapter 7 verse 11, and it was not just a gradual rising of rain water, this was a cataclysmic immediate destruction. All right, verse 11 of Genesis 7. 
Genesis 7:11 
I challenged people, "If you ever see a college textbook that gives a definitive account of Noah’s flood, show it to me." Because college textbooks will never admit a universal destroying flood such as Noah’s. 
Well, the flood changed everything! The flood took that tranquil tropical original earth and just utterly destroyed it - just brought it down to total devastation under the pressure of all that water. And then as the waters receded, according to God’s Sovereign dictate, we had the planet appear as we now know it today. So coming back to II Peter chapter 3. 
II Peter 3:7a 
"But the heavens and the earth, which are now,…." Now, at Peter’s time, the earth is as it is now – the same rivers and the same mountains for the most part were on the scene in Peter’s day as we’ve got today. 
II Peter 3:7b 
"…by the same word (the Word of God) are kept in store,.…" Colossians 1:15 
"Who (speaking of God the Son up there in verse 13) is the image (or the visible, physical appearance.) of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:" He was before anything was ever on the scene - God the Son was already there. He’s from eternity past. 
Colossians 1:16 
The created beings, those Roman Soldiers, were nailing their own Creator on the cross. Colossians 1:17 
II Peter 3:7a 
"But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store,.…" An utter judgment. 
II Peter 3:7b 
"…reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." God’s judgment is going to fall again as it did back in the day of Noah; only, instead of with water, now it’s going to be destroyed with fire and energy. All right, verse 8. 
II Peter 3:8 
All right, verse 9. 
II Peter 3:9 
God is not willing that any should perish but it’s God’s will, it’s his desire that all should come to repentance. I always use John chapter 10, the door to the sheepfold, "I am the door. Across the river? II Peter 3:10a 
II Peter 3:10 
Is there anything God has created that old Satan hasn’t defiled? Satan has put his fingers of defilement on everything that God owns, including Heaven itself. Now then, verse 11. Peter is reminding us this is the case, this is the judgment of this universe that’s coming, and all the power of God will be exercised to bring it about: 
II Peter 3:11a 
All right, so:

II Peter 3:12a 
"Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,…." II Peter 3:12b 
"…wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements (all of the matter of the universe) shall melt with fervent heat?" Now verse 13. 
II Peter 3:13 
"Nevertheless, we, (as believers) according to his promise, (Not according to the prophets now, but to the Word of God, we) look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." Revelation 20:7 
Revelation 20:8

Revelation 20:10-12a 
Revelation 20:12a 
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; (and God in this case is Christ, the righteous Judge;) and the books (plural) were opened: (the record of everybody’s life on earth) and another book (singular) was opened, which is the book of life:…." Revelation 20:12b 
It all depends on the unbeliever’s works while here on earth. Revelation 20:13-15 
14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. (that final separation from their Creator God)15. Revelation 21:1 
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven (which I think envelops the whole universe) and the first earth were passed away; (they melted in fervent heat) and there was no more sea." Verse 2. 
Revelation 21:2 
"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Eternity never ending - never changing. God is going to make it so perfect, so glorious that, no, we’re not going to get bored. Revelation 22:1 
"And he shewed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb."

II Peter 1:1 – 2:8 - Part 2 
Now verse 4. God hasn’t changed. God still operates the way He always has. Every day these false teachers completely undermine the truth; every day the fleshpots of this world are capitalizing on the human weaknesses; and someday soon God’s wrath is going to fall. 
II Peter 2:4 
"For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;" In other words, that started way back, I think, between verse 1 and verse 2 of Genesis. Which, in verse 1, you have the perfect creation. Maybe it’s about time we refresh peoples’ memories. 
Genesis chapter 1. Genesis 1:1 
"In the beginning (before anything ever appeared) God created the heaven and the earth." Now the God of this Book is not a God that does anything less than perfect, is He? It’s covered with water. 
Genesis 1:2 
My it’s been about 13 years since we taught Genesis on television - and the last time, we taught this. All right, Ezekiel 28:13 where God is speaking through the prophet to an individual, and He says: 
Ezekiel 28:13a 
"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God;.…" Adam, Eve and Satan. Okay, so, whoever God is talking to, it’s one of those three. "Thou hast been in Eden...." 
Ezekiel 28:13b 
Ezekiel 28:14a 
"Thou art the anointed cherub (an angel) that covereth; (or ruleth is a better word in the Hebrew here. Here we have an angel who was ruling and reigning. And God says,) and I have set thee so: (I’ve put you in this place of authority) thou wast upon the holy mountain of God;…." Now there are no human beings yet, as Adam and Eve weren’t on the scene yet when this angel was ruling - it was an angelic kingdom. 
Now verse 15. 
Ezekiel 28:15 
"Thou wast (past tense) perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, (What’s the next word?) till (for a period of time this angel was perfect, he was sinless. Now, God will not stand iniquity without doing something about it - in angels any more than humans. Isaiah 14:12 
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Isaiah 14:13-14 
Usurp the place of God. And what does God say? We pick them up now in Revelation chapter 12 verse 4, where in his rebellion in assuming to take over the throneroom of God, evidently one-third of the angels over whom he was ruling followed him in the rebellion. Revelation 12:4 
All right, now then if you’ll just back up a couple of pages to the little book of Jude again, right in front of Revelation, we pick up these same fallen angels in verse 6. Here we have this ruling angel over this glorious earthly kingdom, which was filled with the gemstones of fire – beauty beyond description. All right now, verse 6 in Jude. 
Jude 1:6 
II Peter chapter 2 now verse 4: 
II Peter 2:4 
"For if God spared not the angels that sinned, (who rebelled against God’s authority and attempted to follow Lucifer) but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;" In perfect accord with Jude and Revelation, see? All right, now we come to the next event that Peter can relate to; verse 5, when again the mass of humanity rebelled against the God of creation and, again, in their wickedness, God had to move in with a judgment. 
II Peter 2:5a 
"And spared not the old world, (destroyed it with a flood) but saved Noah the eighth person,…." II Peter 2:5b 
"…(Noah) a preacher of righteousness,.…" Noah preached for 120 years. That if anybody would wake up and realize that old Noah must be right, they could have gone on board. People are trying to get to Heaven every way except the right way! 
All right, verse 6, and we come up through history here. Now we’re past the flood a little over 400 years, and we’re at Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham and Lot were the ones that divided the land and Lot took Sodom remember? All right, so verse 6: 
II Peter 2:6 
Even as God destroyed the iniquity before the flood, even as He destroyed the iniquity in Sodom and Gomorrah - and we all know what that was - and He condemned them with an overthrow and a total destruction because of their ungodly lifestyle. 
I’m guessing. II Peter 2:7 
"And delivered just (righteous) Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:" That’s what the word ‘just’ means here; it doesn’t mean ‘only,’ it means the ‘righteous’ man, Lot. II Peter 2:8 
Sodom and Gomorrah had it made. Well, look what Sodom and Gomorrah were when they were destroyed. 
Ezekiel 16:49

"And they were haughty, (proud - now we’re talking about the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah just before they’re destroyed.) Prosperity. Now back to II Peter. Let’s read verse 8 again, and we’ll be through.

II Peter 1:1 – 2:8 
All right, now we finished verse 15 of chapter 1 of II Peter in the last lesson, so we’re ready for verse 16. II Peter 1:16a 
Intricately! II Peter 1:16 
Only one chapter, verse 14. Remember Jude is in the same category as Peter, James and John. Jude 1:14 
All right, so that’s what Peter is referring to as we read in verse 16. "For we’ve made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." All right, reading on in verse 16: 
II Peter 1:16b 
Just a glimpse. Matthew 16:28 
Matthew 17:1-2a 
3. And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him." All right, so back to II Peter chapter 1 and verse 17. 
II Peter 1:17 
"For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, (And what did the voice say?) My goodness what an experience! The same identical thing, when the voice from Heaven said, word for word, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." Now verse 18. 
II Peter 1:18 
Quite an experience! We live by faith, not by sight. Now verse 19 is a verse that I’ve always really hung on to. II Peter 1:19a 
All right, now look at this next verse - even as great as that transfiguration experience was, Peter can yet say, again by inspiration, never forget this. 
II Peter 1:19 
"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" Well now Who’s the Day Star? The Lord Jesus Christ. By faith! Now verse 20. II Peter 1:20 
We can look at this Book and it is more of a manifestation of Who God is and what He has done and what He is to us, than the transfiguration was to Peter, James and John. Yes, Peter, James and John saw Christ transfigured. All right, let’s go on. II Peter 1:20a 
Gifted men who could speak forth the Word of God and that’s why it was the primary gift. And then verse 21 is the answer. 
II Peter 1:21 
"For the prophecy (or again the speaking forth) came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved (or carried along) by the Holy Ghost." And that’s the inspiration of Scripture. By inspiration. By inspiration. II Timothy 3:16 
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 
False teachers. 
II Peter 2:1 
"But (even though the Scripture is true, even though holy men of God were moved by the Spirit to write) there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." Now this is Peter. Paul. Paul is constantly reminding his early converts "beware!" God has had to put up with the Satanic attacks against Himself and His program and against His Word since day one. All right, but now you’ve got Galatians chapter 1 verse 6 - my, we use this over and over. Galatians 1:6 
(that is through Paul’s preaching) unto another gospel:" Now remember he’s writing to Gentiles who had just come out of paganism, idolatry and all that was part of that. And now Paul has established his Gospel of Grace; for them to believe that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. you’re falling into another gospel." Now verse 7. 
Galatians 1:7 
They’ve added to Paul’s pure Gospel of Salvation, just like many do today. But now look what Paul puts on these false teachers. 
Galatians 1:8 
False teachers. So turn with me to II Timothy, chapter 1. What a heartbreaking statement; and again inspired by the Holy Spirit. And this is what Paul writes to Timothy in verse 15. 
All right, completing the verse. 
II Timothy 1:15-16 
Not long. And Cain rose up and killed Abel. As soon as God revealed something, Satan attacks it with everything he’s got. The satanic power. Satanic power. All right, back to II Peter, chapter 2, and verse 1 again. Oh, the warning against false teachers. II Peter 2:1 
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily (or secretly. II Peter 2:2a 
Peter says many) shall follow their pernicious ways;…." Goodness sakes, if you know anything about medicine, you should know what the word ‘pernicious’ means. We’ve got a disease called what? Pernicious anemia. Well, what’s the disease pernicious anemia? Well the word means the same thing here. These false teachers are perniciously chewing up the truth so that it becomes useless. Now finishing verse 2.

I Peter 4:1 – 5:14 - Part 2 
Okay, let’s pick right up where we left off in the last lesson, and we are now in I Peter chapter 5. We call that Paul’s Gospel of salvation found over in I Corinthians 15:1-4. 
Now then, as we come into chapter 5 this is pretty much along the same line that Paul teaches for establishing his Gentile churches. All right, so now then, coming down into chapter 5, dealing with these Jewish congregations, you have the same kind of language, where Peter says in verse 1: 
I Peter 5:1a 
Now I’ve pointed this out in other times (but we certainly know) that, at Pentecost, and even during Christ’s earthly ministry, Peter was the headman. Peter spoke for the Twelve invariably and, at Pentecost, everybody recognized Peter as the head of the Jewish Jerusalem church. After several years of Paul’s ministry, false teachers emanating from the Jerusalem church were coming in behind Paul and telling Paul’s Gentile converts that they had to keep the Law and circumcision in order to be saved. Galatians 2:9 
"And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived (or understood) the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, (Gentiles) and they unto the circumcision. (Jews) 
Acts 15 verse 13. James is. 
Acts 15:13 
"And after they had held their peace, James (the moderator) answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:" And then you come down to verse 19 and James continues: 
So James is the one who is making the authoritative statement, not Peter, and that should be sufficient. Now the same way with the order of how these little Jewish epistles (and I think the Holy Spirit did it purposely), where James is first, not Peter. It’s James’ epistle, and then we go to I Peter and II Peter and then John, and Jude. 
All right, verse 1 again: 
I Peter 5:1

Now chapter 17 and verse 1. 
Matthew 17:1-2 
It was almost blinding, okay, so that’s the Glory that I think Peter can make reference to, that he and James and John had witnessed it. All right, back to I Peter chapter 5, and continuing verse 1. 
I Peter 5:1b 
I Peter 5:2 
All right, so "Feed the flock of God," be a shepherd, and again I think in the Synagogue there were the upper shepherds and the lower shepherds. 
I Peter 5:3-4 
"Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. Israel! Israel is always referred to as sheep, Christ is always referred to as the Shepherd, and He uses the parables of the Shepherd. And I cannot find anything that pertains to Gentiles being called God’s sheep. 
John 21:15a 
"So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?…" Peter do you love me more than your fishing business up on Galilee? John 21:15b 
"…He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my (what?) lambs." Well they’re sheep. Israel. So who was Peter to be feeding? Jews. And who does Peter feed? Jews. John 21:16-17 
"He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time. Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep." Peter’s denials. Three times when Peter said, "I don’t know that man." Three times the Lord says, "Feed my sheep." Okay now, this is exactly what he’s referring to now in his little epistle, then, that it’s his responsibility as well as the rest of the Jewish leadership to "feed God’s sheep," and that’s Israel, the Jewish element. Verse 3 again. 
I Peter 5:3 
"Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock." A flock of sheep. Verse 4. 
I Peter 5:4a 
"And when the chief Shepherd shall appear,…" I Peter 5:4-6a 
5. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. 6. Humble yourselves.…" I Peter 5:6-7 
All right, back to I Peter chapter 5 again. Verse 8. If you’re going to cast your cares upon the Lord Jesus, then it behooves us to live accordingly. I Peter 5:8 
II Corinthians, chapter 11, and let’s drop down to verse 14. Now remember what Peter just said, "Beware of Satan who is as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour." Paul depicts him: 
an angel of light. Peter’s followers back here in the little epistle are up against a lion "seeking whom he may devour." It’s a false angel of light. All right, back in I Peter 5. 
"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. Amen." I Peter 5:12 
Now, remember, Grace did not start with Paul. Paul becomes the more eminent Apostle of Grace, but God has always dealt in Grace. Now closing with verse 13.

I Peter 4:1 – 5:14 
Probably it’s the same Jewish churches that are addressed in Revelation 1 through 3. All right, now we saw that so vividly back up in verse 7, where Peter said: 
Future. Peter doesn’t know about Paul’s outcalling of the Gentiles with the pure Gospel of Grace. Now, he will by the time we get to II Peter. Now continuing verse 12. 
"But rejoice, (because if they can survive the pressures, they’re going to enter into the glory of the Kingdom) inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." What’s he talking about? The Kingdom. And he says again, "If you can come through these fiery trials." Remember he’s up here on this top timeline. If you can come through these fiery trials and witness the return of Christ, and go into the glory of His Kingdom.... Go back with me in Matthew (in Christ’s earthly ministry). Matthew chapter 19, and let’s start with verse 27. Remember it’s all Jewish. Peter has no idea that it would be interrupted by almost 2,000 years with Paul’s Gospel of Grace. Matthew 19:27 
"Then answered Peter and said unto him, (that is unto the Lord) Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we (the Twelve) have therefore?" Not in Heaven, but in Jerusalem, on Mount Zion. All right, so the Lord is referring to all that and He says to Peter and the Eleven: 
"…That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." Why was Peter in such a terrible hurry to fill the twelfth slot after Judas was gone? Acts chapter 8 verse 1. Now Israel has just stoned Stephen - killed him - because Stephen made the last appeal to the Nation of Israel to repent of having crucified their Messiah. (that is Stephen’s) And at that time there was a great persecution (headed up by Saul) against the church (Jewish assembly) which was at Jerusalem;…" That church or that assembly of Jewish believers, who had embraced Jesus as the Messiah. Jerusalem. 
Now back to I Peter chapter 4 again. 
I Peter 4:13a 
"But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings;…" Now, sure, Peter is referring to Jesus’ crucifixion. I Peter 4:13 
"But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." Well what’s he talking about? When Christ would come and set up His earthly Kingdom! Now let’s go back to the Old Testament. Zechariah 12:10a 
Zechariah 12:10b-11 
11. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon." Zechariah 13:6 
It was in the house of the House of David. Okay, let’s go back once again to I Peter chapter 4 and we’ll pick up in verse 14. 
I Peter 4:14a 
"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ,…" The true believers were always hated and detested. All the way back into Israel’s history, the unbelieving, pagan worshipping Jews killed and detested those that were believers. My, you remember the parable that Jesus gave of the husbandman who planted a vineyard? Now verse 14 again. 
I Peter 4:14 
"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part (that is the persecutors, whether it was Jews or Romans)he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified." You know why the world in general hates our President? Because he makes no apology for his faith in Jesus Christ. Now, don’t expect him to preach Jesus Christ from the White House, he cannot. The world should see Christ living in us wherever we go. All right now verse 15. 
I Peter 4:15 
I Peter 4:16-17a 
17. "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:…" (Israel) 
Israel was to be the example to the world. Peter is addressing only Jews. And so he says again: "The time has come that judgment (or God’s dealing now righteously) must begin at the house of God." Peter says: 
I Peter 4:17b 
Israel. I Peter 4:17c 
Because if it can’t be shown through Israel, how in the world can the rest of the world measure up? Now verse 18. 
I Peter 4:18 
Turn back with me to Revelation chapter 20. The last one and they’ll all be brought, before the Great White Throne in verse 11. 
Revelation 20:11-15 
14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. All right, now come back if you will for just a second to chapter 20 and verse 10.

Okay, I Peter chapter 3 and we’re in verse 20. How God’s going to do it, I don’t know. All right now, I guess we’d better read verse 18 to get the flow. 
I Peter 3:18-20 
A hundred and twenty years, remember) eight souls were saved by water." 
Well, it was the water, you see, that was the judgment of God on unbelieving mankind; but the believers escaped the judgment because of the ark floating in the water. All right, let’s go in to verse 21 and we can probably clarify. 
I Peter 3:21-22 
"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22. Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him." 
While Noah was preparing the ark, a hundred and twenty years, every hammer blow, everything that was taking place was a sermon of coming judgment to the people of Noah’s day. Children. The other word for ark in the Old Testament is a coffin and a coffin is not shaped like a boat. Well, so was the ark of Noah’s time. All right, Genesis chapter 6 verse 13 and 14. 
Genesis 6:13a 
"And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them;…" Violence. All right, and so God says: 
Genesis 6:13b 
Now then, verse 14. God’s instruction to Noah was to: 
Genesis 6:14 
The ark was a place of safety going through the waters of judgment. 
That’s the whole idea of the flood - to teach us that God is going to bring through that segment of believers because of the pitch that sealed out the water of judgment. That the blood of Christ is what seals out the wrath and the judgment of God that’ll never touch us, no more than the flood water ever touched Noah and their families. 
And so, here is the whole picture, that the ark became a place of salvation for these eight people in the midst of horrendous wrath and judgment on the rest of humanity. I Peter 3:20b 
"…eight souls were saved by water." They were saved by or through the water, because the water destroyed all of the wicked generation, and the ark floating in the water was the salvation of these who escaped. 
All right, now then, maybe this will help us a little bit - verse 21. Now remember, this is Peter, this isn’t Paul. Peter is coming out of that Jewish mentality of water, water, water. Wash, wash, wash in water. "That filthy Jordan? All right, the water didn’t do it; it was his faith. So then you come all the way up to Christ’s own baptism. Why did He demand baptism? II Peter 3:15. II Peter 3:15a 
All right, so Peter is showing it even here. 
II Peter 3:15b 
People read and read and they don’t read it. II Peter 3:15c 
"…even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;" What is Peter admitting? I think Peter was martyred just shortly after he finished this II Peter. II Peter 3:16a 
Salvation! Peter says, "You go to Paul". All right, so you go to Paul’s epistles, where it’s speaking of these things pertaining to salvation. II Peter 3:16b 
Hey, this is at the end of Peter’s life. God didn’t expect him to. Peter is still of that Jewish mentality. II Peter 3:16c 
Well, Christ Himself was placed, by virtue of that water baptism, into a priesthood. It was a baptism. No water, but it was a placing "into." We have been so programmed (the human race over the last 2,000 years), that baptism automatically means water. It merely means when something is placed "into,"whether it was Moses’ leadership, Christ’s priesthood or Christ into His suffering and His Passion. Now we’ll see how Paul uses it as we are placed into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. 
Now the Body of Christ is the same way. We’re all brought into the Body of Christ and if one of the members hurts, we all hurt. Christ hurts. "For by one Spirit (Holy Spirit) are we all (not just a few, every believer is) baptized into one body,…" How? By a work of the Holy Spirit. No water. We have been placed into the Body of Christ, so that we can function under the headship of Christ. 
The Head of the Body and the members of the Body. Well, for Peter, of course, the flood and Noah and everything - that included a lot of water - but he’s not putting any salvation on any kind of water baptism; but he’s using it as a figure that even as baptism: 
I Peter 3:21 
"Repent." With baptism. Repentance and water baptism. Hey, that’s the flesh talking. The flesh won’t save anybody. All right, verse 22 and, remember, we ended verse 21 with "by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"

Okay, let’s go right back into I Peter and we were in chapter 3 verse 12. 
I Peter 3:12 
Now so often the question comes, "Does God hear the prayers of evil people?" Would you, if you were in God’s position? Now, if they’re asking for salvation, and if they believe Paul’s Gospel for their salvation, then they can come right into the throne room of God with their petitions and thanksgivings, and have every right to. God’s not going to do anything for them. Those prayers are never answered whatsoever. 
Let’s go back to that verse in Proverbs that I quoted in the last moments of the last program, and that’s Proverbs 14 verse 34. Remember, we’re not under the Covenant Promises, but I think God has so blessed America since our founding was on Biblical principles. We have been, for the most part, a God-fearing nation. And I think God has blessed us even as He promised to bless Abraham back in the Old Testament. So I do draw a parallel, and always have, that I think there is that distinctiveness in God’s blessing America like He has blessed no other nation on earth. 
We’ve got churches on every corner, Bibles in every home and we, like no other nation on earth, have been blessed of God - and if we are going to kick Him out, then we can expect, as a nation, His wrath and His judgment to fall. 
All right, Proverbs 14 verse 34. 
Proverbs 14:34 
"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." America was great because America is good. And America will cease to be great when America ceases to be good. All right, so "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." I Peter 3:13 
Many times good people are persecuted. I Peter 3:14 
We haven’t had to fear losing our livelihood. Well, I always remember an old pastor of mine. If and when that day comes, the grace of God will be sufficient." I Peter 3:15 
Because you have been saved by God’s grace, you know that you’re a child of God and, as a result, He has made you different. I Peter 3:16a 
I Peter 3:16 
"Blessed are ye when men say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake." All right, verse 17. 
I Peter 3:17 
"For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing." Our prisons are full of people who have done evil and they live to regret it, of course. I Peter 3:18 
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" In other words, the Spirit of Christ never died. Don’t ever think, for a moment, that God died when Christ died on the cross. I Peter 3:19 
There were two sides down there, the Paradise side and torment side. 
In Paradise. That from the cross, then, the thief as well as Christ Himself, in the realm of the spirit, went down into the Paradise side in the center of the earth. Today Paradise is in heaven, but at that time, it was in the center of the earth. Matthew 12:38-39 
Matthew 12:40 
Now verse 19. 
Luke 16:19-28 
22. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: (That’s down in Paradise.) the rich man also died, and was buried; 23. And in hell (Sheol. Hades.) 25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Then, the great gulf fixed, and on the other side is Torment. My, that has thrown a curve at so many people. You mean Jesus went to Hell? Not Torment. 
Consequently, he could not go into God’s holy presence until the atoning blood of Christ Himself was shed. 
"The atoning blood has been shed!" Ephesians 4:8-10 
"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. When Christ had shed His atoning blood, here on the cross, He could tell the thief, "today thou shalt be with me in Paradise." They went down for those three days and three nights into the lower parts of the earth, but into the Paradise side; and when Peter says He preached to those spirits in prison, this is what he could preach – "The atoning blood has now been shed. The place of torment. The place of punishment. But, in the Old Testament economy it was the place of all of the departed dead. 
I Peter 3:19-20a 
"By which also he (Christ) went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20. A hundred and twenty years God was patient with that wicked people living there at the time of Noah, while Noah and his sons (and probably some hired help) were building the ark.

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may (what?) Here, Paul uses the same analogy of milk. The leaders have never given people anything more than milk. 
All right, I Corinthians chapter 3? 3. For ye are yet carnal:…" I Corinthians 3:3 
All right now Peter is dealing with the same kind of a situation amongst the Jewish believers. Now come back with me to I Peter chapter 2. Most believers never go beyond infancy and God’s heart must just break. All right, so Peter is admonishing even these Jewish believers: 
I Peter 2:2-4 
"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (don’t remain an infant) 3. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 4. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious." 
Christ! Who was the stone cut out without hands? The returning Christ. 
So all through Scripture we have over and over the picturing of Christ as "the stone." 
I Corinthians 3:11 
"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." And so all through Scripture we have this analogy of Christ as a Rock or as a Stone. I Peter 2:6 
"Wherefore also it is contained in the scriptures, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, (speaking of Christ as He presented Himself to the Nation of Israel) elect, precious: (in other words, Christ was the chosen One of God to bring about the salvation of, not just Israel, but, the whole human race) and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded." I Peter 2:7a 
"Unto you therefore which believe…" See, now here Peter is close to Paul again isn’t he? So always remember that, even though people did not understand that Christ would die on a Roman Cross and be raised from the dead, the merit of that work of the Cross is still put to their account. 
I Peter 2:8a 
"And a stone of stumbling,…" I Peter 2:8b 
I Peter 2:8c 
Remember, Peter is speaking to these Jews of this day and time, shortly after the crucifixion. I Peter 2:9a 
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;…" Paul doesn’t use those words, but you know what? The same words. Exodus 19. All right, and so God says to Moses: 
Exodus 19:5a 
"Now therefore, if ye (the Nation of Israel) will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure…." Same word in Peter! Flip back to Peter again, "ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people." Now the word peculiar doesn’t mean odd. All right, back to Exodus. 
Exodus 19:5b-6a 
Now flip back to Peter. And what does Peter say? "A royal priesthood, A holy nation." Exodus 19:6 
"And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation, These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel." I Peter 2:9b 
Now come back to John’s Gospel, chapter 3 and let’s begin with verse 19. And, again, we’ve got Christ dealing with Israel, not with the world in general – Israel. John 3:19-21 
"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. All right, so now if you’ll come back to I Peter chapter 2. And so you have all these comparisons of God dealing with the Nation of Israel, previously, and Peter is just simply rehearsing it. 
I Peter 2:9a 
"But ye (as he speaks to these Jewish believers) are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,…" I Peter 2:9b-10a 
"…an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10. Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:…" Now, I don’t know what point in time Peter was referring to. Peter is saying as we finish the verse. 
I Peter 2:10b 
All right, now verse 11. 
I Peter 2:11-12a 
I Peter 12b-14 
We are still to behave the same way, as believers, as Peter admonishes those Jews in the midst of all that Roman persecution. Romans 13 - this is Paul’s approach. 
Romans 13:1-2 
For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God, 2. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, (that is of government) resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."Now verse 3. 
Romans 13:3 
Romans 13:4a 
"For he (government) is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid;…" 
Absolutely. Government is to punish if we act evil; but if we are as we should be, we should never have to fear the punishment of government.

All right, so, reading verse 11 again just to review our thinking that these prophets in verse 10 were:

Jesus, in Luke chapter 4 gave us, as I’ve used so often, our reason for opening up our timeline. Now remember here in Luke chapter 4, we have Christ in His earthly ministry, and Christ is still under the Law.

19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:21 
Isaiah 61, and we won’t take time to reread verse 1, but come up to verse 2 and I want you to notice where He stopped. All right, in verse 2 of Isaiah 61.

All right, now look where he stopped as we finish that verse.

"…and the day of vengeance of our God;..." (the 7 years of Tribulation). Isaiah 61:2c 
"…to comfort all that mourn;" That’s the Kingdom! That’s what the Kingdom will do. I Peter 1:12 
"Unto whom (that is the Old Testament believers) it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us (the believers now at the time of Christ’s first advent) they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into."All right, verse 13. 
I Peter 1:13 
at the revelation (or the second coming)of Jesus Christ." Notice Peter never mentions the Rapture of the Church like Paul does? Now verse 14. 
I Peter 1:14-15 
All right, now verse 16. 
I Peter 1:16-17 
Just a short period of time. All right, now verse 18. I Peter 1:18 
I Peter 1:19 
The Christ! The Son of God!" And that’s all God expected them to believe for their salvation. I Peter 1:20 
I Peter 1:21a 
"Who by him do believe in God, (the same God) that raised him up from the dead,…" Peter makes no apology for the fact that Christ died and rose from the dead. Acts chapter 2 starting in verse 22. All right, this was the feast of Pentecost. Peter is addressing Israel. 
Acts 2:22 
"Ye men of Israel, (there’s no Gentile language here) hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:" Remember the timing. Now continue the verse. 
Does Peter mention anything about their salvation in believing that? That even though the Messiah was crucified, God has raised Him from the dead, He can still be our King. The message of faith in His death, and burial, and resurrection for salvation was only given to Paul for us in the Body of Christ. All right, then he comes from the Psalms in these next series of verses, showing from the Psalms that the Messiah must suffer and die and be raised from the dead, verse 31. 
Psalms 110:1 
"The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." And then verse 36 of Acts chapter 2. The first program this afternoon, we went back to Acts chapter 3 where Peter says again that, if they would just repent of having crucified their Messiah and get right with their God, Christ would return and give them the Kingdom. All right, so Peter is still on the same ground. Peter isn’t on church ground. Peter is on prophecy. Peter is on the Old Testament promises concerning the Nation of Israel. All right, back to I Peter, and verse 21 
I Peter 1:21 
Now verse 22. 
I Peter 1:22-23a 
John chapter 3. "Unless you are born again you cannot see the Kingdom." All right Peter uses the same terminology. 
I Peter 1:23b 
Does Paul ever use the term "born again?" Now verse 24.

"Snow on the River." I Peter 1:25 
"But the Word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." 
Now let’s go back to Matthew chapter 9 so that you’ll get this concept of the gospel that Peter is speaking of. Nothing has changed so far as Peter is concerned. They were still on the same Gospel that Jesus preached in His earthly ministry. Matthew 9 verse 35. 
Matthew 9:35 
"And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people." Matthew 10:5,6 
"The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. That was the good news of the Kingdom; that Israel’s Messiah was here and is ready to give the Kingdom to Israel if they would just believe that He was that Promised Messiah. That’s the Gospel of the Kingdom.

Hopefully we’ll finish the Book of James with this lesson, and that’ll be just perfect as we can start our next series in I Peter. All right, so back to James chapter 5 and remember, again, I’ve just got to keep repeating for the sake of those who missed a program or new ones coming in, that we’re dealing with Jewish believers of really, the "Gospel of the Kingdom" era. For salvation they had believed that Jesus was the Christ, and that’s all. James 5:1 
are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth." James 5:5a 
"Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton;…" James 5:5b-6 
James 5:7a 
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto (now he’s talking to the believing element. Now remember when I taught the book of Acts? Sold it. Brought the proceeds to Peter and James and John and the rest and put it in the common kitty. James 5:7 
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, (in other words, the farmer who plants his seed and waits for the harvest) and hath long patience for it , until he receive the early and latter rain." James 5:8 
"Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord (what?) All right now I’m going to show you a few others and then we’ll come back and see where we have the wherewithal to stop God’s time clock. I Peter 1:7 
The coming Tribulation) might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" Now that’s not the Rapture of the Church, but rather that’s the Second Coming of Christ at the end of the Tribulation. They’re looking for the Tribulation and the Second Coming. Then look at verse 9. 
I Peter 1:9 
All right, now turn to chapter 4 verse 7. The Body of Christ, the true Church is going to be gone before the Tribulation even starts. 
I Peter 4:7 
at hand: (it’s not 2,000 years ahead so far as Peter is concerned) be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." 
All right, now let’s just move on to II Peter chapter 3 and, of course, Peter writes as if all this is just going to be coming right down the pike. II Peter 3:1-3 
All right, I John chapter 2 verse 18. Again, I’m sure that all of these Jewish writings were accomplished before Paul even finished his letters. I John 2:18 
"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that anti-christ shall come, even now there are many anti-christs; whereby we know that it is the last time." Luke chapter 4 - you’ll all recognize it. Verse 16, and here Jesus is in His earthly ministry. 
Luke 4:16-20 
17. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. (Isaiah) 19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:21 
Come back to Isaiah 61 and we’ll see how the Lord knew that the Tribulation was not coming at that time. Well, He was speaking from His human side. 
Only the Father knoweth." the Father." The wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting(what?) Father." All right, so here we are now in His earthly ministry. He has read from Isaiah 61, and He’s come through the whole first verse word for word, but now you go up to verse 2 when He says: 
Isaiah 61:2a 
"To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,…" He stops in the middle of the verse! Now look at the verse carefully. All right, and read on: 
Isaiah 612b 
The Kingdom. All right, let’s get back to James chapter 5. 
James 5:7 
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. James 5:8-10 
"Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. 9. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. 10. Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience." The Tribulation. And he’s telling those Jewish believers, this isn’t the first time they have suffered. All right, so he’s preparing them for these coming years of Tribulation. 
James 5:11a 
Ye have heard of the patience of Job,…" James 5:11b 
"…Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." God hasn’t changed. James 5:12 
James 5:13a 
Well, there’s never been a point in human history where there aren’t sick people. 
James 5:13b 
Now let’s go back and compare Paul in Ephesians 5 verse 18. 
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" That’s the life of a believer. Now back to James. 
James 5:14 
Wine. 
7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." 
So prayer still avails much.

All right, we’re going to continue right where we left off in the letter by James to the Hebrew believers – to the Twelve tribes scattered abroad. Now, we’ve got to remember, where did these Jews come from, and who are these people that these little epistles are addressed to. 
James and Peter and John and Jude and, to a degree even, John’s Book of Revelation were written to the Jews that had been scattered. Now you want to remember that Israel has been out there as a people scattered throughout the then known world ever since the Babylonian invasion in 606 BC. Now come back to James and let’s stop with James chapter 1 verse 1, and this just says it all. Plain English. 
James 1:1 
"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to (and I don’t think we do any harm by putting ‘writing’ rather than ‘to’) the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." So now back to James chapter 4 where we left off in our last lesson. James 4:12a 
Now come back with me a few pages to Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25. Hebrews 7 verse 25, here’s the saving side: 
Hebrews 7:25 
Those) that come unto God by him. Here we have the Great White Throne Judgment for the lost. And these are the two concepts that James is putting in front of his people. "How can a God of love send anybody to such an awful place?" All right, so now then, in Revelation 20, you do have the ability and the wherewithal of God to destroy those who are lost. Revelation 20:11-12a 
12. And I saw the dead, (now remember there are no believers involved in here. This is all the unbelieving from Cain to the end) small and great, stand before God; (the Righteous Judge) and the books (plural)were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:…" When their name was not in the book of life, He then opens up the books, which included their works. That’s what Paul calls fruit unto death. They lived a life of sin and rebellion, which was a life of fruit unto death and here it comes. 
Revelation 20:12b-13 
All right, and so they were judged every man individually. How in the world will God have time to bring every individual lost person before the bar of justice? God will judge the billions of the human race in what we would call a matter of minutes, and yet everyone is going to have a time before Him. All right, now verse 14, and see what James means when he says that God is able to save and to destroy? 
Revelation 20:14 
"And death and hell (that is the compilation of all the lost of the ages) were cast into the lake of fire. Now people don’t want to hear about the Lake of Fire anymore. It’s in the Book. Remember physical death was their first death and now spiritual death is their second death. Then verse 15 puts the cap on it. 
Revelation 20:15 
"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:10a 
Revelation 20:10b 
James 4:12 
There is one eternal God. We have that right. None of us can - only God can do that. James 4:13 
Now remember the Lord Himself is not betraying the secret that time is going to be interrupted and that these people to whom He’s speaking will not see the Tribulation and the Second Coming. Matthew 24:37-38 
Life was going on. Matthew 24:40 
Now come back to James again. This is the same scenario that, as the Tribulation is approaching and these Jewish believers are going to be coming under pressure, yet you have that element of either unbelievers or carnal believers (whatever the case James is dealing with), and all they’ve got on their minds is what? Material gain. James 4:14 
For what is your life? Well, that’s life. I’ve had a few people in my classes that were 100 – 102. All right, so James is reminding his flock, don’t get so concerned about the material world because it’s just here today and gone tomorrow. 
James 4:15 
James 4:16a 
"But now ye rejoice in your boastings:…" I hope I got that word out right. They’re great philanthropists. James 4:16 
James 4:17 
sin." 
All right, now, lest you think I’ve been pushing the envelop on this, look at the first verse of chapter 5. James 5:1 
rich men, (See? These Jews, a lot of them, had wealth.) When the Tribulation would hit. Not only just for Israel and the Jews but for the whole human race – the wrath of God is coming! All right, Jeremiah chapter 25 verse 30. Jeremiah 25:30 
Not just Israel. Verse 31. 
Jeremiah 25:31-32a 
WMD. Weapons of Mass Destruction. Everybody wants weapons of mass destruction. Tremendous wind. Jeremiah 25:33 
The earth is going to be utterly annihilated through the wrath of God, but He’ll use a lot of these weapons of mass destruction.

All right now let’s get back again in the book of James and we’ll keep moving on, little by little. All right, so back to James chapter 2 where we left off. We’re in verse 18. And James is dealing with this whole concept of faith plus works and we’re showing the comparison wherePaul says, "It’s faith plus nothing for salvation." James 2:18 
"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.’" 
No, because he didn’t do the works that the Law demanded. 
Now verse 20. 
James 2:20 
"But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" All right, now verse 21. James 2:21 
"Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?" 
Was it at that time in Abraham’s life that he became a man of faith and a believer? James is using the offering of Isaac as a works that was proving Abraham’s faith. Paul on the other hand is showing us that Abraham’s faith was intact before any works. Romans 4 verse 1. 
Romans 4:1 
All right now verse 2. 
Romans 4:2-3a 
"For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; (brag) but not before God. Every word of this Book "...inspired by the Holy Spirit, holy men of God wrote as they were moved by the Spirit." 
So, Genesis 1 to the last verse of Revelation is Scripture, it’s the Word of God. God is dealing differently today under Grace than He did with Israel under the Law. All right, but here we find Abraham as the epitome of God’s saving someone by faith and faith alone, because that’s why Paul uses Abraham then as an example for us, even in this Age of Grace. Verse 3 again. 
Romans 4:3 
Abraham believed God, (and offered up his son Isaac? Abraham believed God – period!) God spoke it, Abraham believed it! Romans chapter 1 verse 16. Romans 1:16a 
believeth;…" When someone makes a profession of faith, they’d better be ready for the fact that God is going to work a change in their lifestyle. 
And they are going to begin to work out that salvation that has begun with their faith. Salvation is going to come by itself and it’s going to stand on faith and faith alone - but with the understanding that a changed life is going to follow. A believer is going to be only too anxious to share his faith. Now let’s turn to Romans chapter 3 and look at verses 24 through 26. 
Romans 3:24-25a 
Whom (speaking of Christ) God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,…" Now continuing the verse. 
Romans 3:25b-26 
We’ve got to make a little headway in James, so now verse 22 of James chapter 2. Here we find James enlarging on his argument - and well he may - because James doesn’t understand Paul’s doctrine of grace as yet. James is still the legalist. 
James 2:22 
"Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works (or his works) was faith made perfect?" If you haven’t got works, you must not have faith, and you cannot have saving faith unless you’ve got the works. When we maintain that as soon as we’re condemned by the Law, and we know that we’re a lost sinner, we gain salvation by faith and faith alone in what Christ has already done. It’s finished. 
All right, back to James, and verse 23. 
James 2:23 
"And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God." James 2:24 
"Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." 
Did God have to see Abraham perform some work in order to see his faith? God sees the heart! We need to see works. We can’t tell if a person is a believer or not, only God can do that. James 2:25 
Let’s go back to Joshua chapter 2 verse 9. It prompted her to put her faith in the God of Israel. Not a word yet about her works. James 2:26 
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Well, he says, it’s the same way if you’re going to tell me that you can have faith and not works. Well remember, now, just the analogy that James is looking at works under the Law and it’s valid for these Jewish believers, but it is not the same as we under Grace can operate. All right, chapter 3.

James 2:9a

"…ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law (the Ten) as transgressors. The Law was demanding. If you break one, you’re guilty of breaking them all. 
James 2:11 
Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law." All right, now then verse 12. 
James 2:12 
Not according to the Law of liberty, but according to this Scripture right here. 
Romans 2:16 
"In the day (Paul writes) when God (the Sovereign, Holy, Righteous God) shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, (He’s going to be the judge remember at the Great White Throne where all the lost will be gathered - and he will judge them) according to my gospel." Every man woman and child that has lived on this side of this Age of Grace is going to be judged by Paul’s Gospel. Now you all know what Paul’s Gospel is, don’t you? Paul’s Gospel of Salvation was given to him by the resurrected Lord, and is found in I Corinthians chapter 15, verses 1 through 4. Here’s Paul’s Gospel, and this is the Gospel by which mankind is now going to be judged. Verse 1. 
I Corinthians 15:1 
(now remember Paul is writing to believers) Pagans, idolaters, worshippers of the mythological gods and goddesses. But now, because they had believed Paul’s Gospel, Paul could call them brethren. All right, verse 2. 
I Corinthians 15:2 
"By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain." (Romans 11:13) Peter, James and John haven’t been to Corinth. Paul alone comes into this pagan city. Hey, with God nothing just "happens." Well, that’s Paul’s Gospel and that’s the message that every human being is going to be judged on in this Age of Grace. Not whether they kept the Law. Not if they’ve been good, but rather, have they believed Paul’s Gospel? 
Let’s come back to James. And so the comparison is, James is still telling his Jewish people here, they’re going to be judged by the Law of liberty. At that time, those early Jewish believers had to believe that Jesus was their promised Messiah, the Son of God. Law and Grace simply cannot mix. Too many try to add things to Paul’s Gospel that God did not put in there! Now can you see that beautiful difference between Law and Grace? Now verse 13 in James chapter 2. 
James 2:13 
Now verse 14. 
James 2:14 
"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?" 
I know I’ve sinned. God knows my heart. Was that man made right with God? How can a man under the Law possibly be right with God if he doesn’t fulfill the works that the Law demanded? Let’s say the third neighbor commits a sin on the outer perimeters. Was that man justified? All right, now James is making that same analogy and that’s where he’s right on for James. 
James 2:14a 
"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works?…" Verse 15. 
James 2:15-16 
So what is James teaching? We’re to do good works for all the right reasons, even in this Age of Grace. Now verse 17. 
James 2:17 
"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James just simply says, "If I don’t see works, then you don’t have faith." Paul says, "If you have faith, you’re going to have works." Ephesians 2:4-5 
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5. (by grace ye are saved;)" Now verse 6. 
Ephesians 2:6-7 
Now verse 8: 
Ephesians 2:8a 
"For by grace (by God’s unmerited favor) are ye saved through faith;…" Not works. Faith! All right, but God doesn’t stop there. Reading the verse again. 
Ephesians 2:8-9 
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: (because) it is the gift of God:" (you don’t work for it, it’s unmerited favor) 9. Verse 10. For once we are saved, once we have entered in by our faith in Paul’s Gospel (that Christ died, was buried and rose from the dead), we’ve entered in by faith then: 
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,… God’s! God moves in and He works a work in our heart and life without our lifting a finger, so we are "His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,…" 
God. Do the good works. All right, so, "We are created in Christ Jesus unto good works." Paul was telling us that when we become a true believer, and the Holy Spirit begins to work the work in our lives, you’re going to do good works. All right reading on, finish the verse: 
"…which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Come back to James and let’s read verse 17 again: 
James 2:17 
"Even so (James says) faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."

Remember, the Apostle Paul gave us, in the Church Age today, the Scriptures for salvation, and Church doctrine, and how to live Godly lives, and don’t ever forget that. All right, here we’ve got them in Acts chapter 11 verse 19. And remember the last program we picked these Jews up in Christ’s earthly ministry. All right, now then, we come back to the little letter of James, as well as Peter and John and Jude and Revelation - all those books are written primarily to these Jews that are in congregations scattered throughout that part of the Roman world. All right, if the next thing on the calendar is the Tribulation for these people, what do they need? James and I Peter especially. And then John’s three little epistles, they’re all written to encourage these Jews in view of the coming horrors of the Tribulation. All right, verse 1 again: 
James 1:1-2 
"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes, (Jews) which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers (testings is a better word than) temptations;" Well now, what’s the testing? The Tribulation. How in the world did these Jews take any joy in this coming Tribulation? What’s to follow? The King. The Kingdom! Remember, all of the Old Testament laid that out so clearly, that after the Tribulation would come the King and His Kingdom! 
Matthew chapter 19 verse 27. Matthew 19:27 
So what’s he talking about? Reward. What’s the reward? All right, and Jesus doesn’t put him down. All right, now here it comes. 
Regeneration. "Repent ye therefore,…" Now remember, go back up to verse 12 so we establish to whom is Peter preaching? 
Acts 3:12 
"And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel,…" Now come back to verse 19, and let’s read that verse. 
Acts 3:19 
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing (now that’s the Kingdom) shall come from the presence of the Lord;" Now lets read the next verse also. Because, if Israel will repent, look what happens. 
Acts 3:20 
"And he (God) shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:" 
But in verse 21, we’re reminded that He couldn’t set up His Kingdom until the earth was regenerated. "…until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." All right let’s go back to Psalms chapter 2. All right, then come down to verse 4. 
Psalms 2:4 
All right, the Lord will have them in derision - "Then," there’s your time word. Psalms 2:5 
Now as soon as the Tribulation has run its course, then verse 6. 
The Kingdom. All right, so this is the admonition - verse 2 again, Peter says: 
James 1:2a 
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;" (or testings) 
All right, so Peter is telling these Jews the same thing. Now verse 3: 
James 1:3-4 
When Paul says, "be ye perfect as I am perfect,"he’s merely speaking of a spiritual maturity. Now verse 5. 
James 1:5 
James 1:6-8 
8. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." 
Jesus is speaking and He says in verse 12. 
John 14:12 
Now look at verses 13 and 14: 
John 14:13-14 
Philippians 4:7 
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." John 14:15 
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." Remember Jesus never tells the Jews they are no longer under the Law, as he does through the Apostle Paul to us here in the Church Age. All right, now maybe that’ll help a little bit to understand James. All right, now back to James, and verse 9. 
James 1:9-10 
It was a world of intense activity. So let’s read that verse again. 
James 1:10-11 
Now verse 12. 
James 1:12 
"Which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." 
Now, let’s see again what Paul says about suffering. If you get a little depressed once in a while, just come back to this verse. 
Romans 8:18 
Back to James again, and remember he’s talking to Jews who were looking at the Tribulation of that day. Reading on now in chapter 1 verse 13. 
"Let no man say when he is tempted, (I still like tested) I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." God isn’t in that business. James 1:14-15a 
15. Then when lust hath conceived,…" James 1:15b 
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:" 
All right, verse 20. 
James 1:20-22a 
"For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 22. But be ye doers of the word,…" Now here’s the legalistic part of James. James 22-23 
23. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:" Well, that’s the way James depicts a man who does not follow his faith with good works.

What did the average Jew on the street think of Gentiles? A good Jew, go to those pagan Gentiles?" That’s where you’re going Saul! All right, so that was the beginning, then, of God turning toward the Gentile race of people and beginning to let Israel slip through the cracks. All right, now, years later, of course, after about twelve years, in about 52 AD, Paul has now been out there ministering among the Gentiles especially up in Asia Minor - and he would establish these little Gentile congregations based on his Gospel of Grace, not of works but by faith plus nothing. 
All right, now, the reason I’m rehearsing all that is because I’m taking you now to Acts chapter 15 (and at the culmination of this Jerusalem counsel now in around 51 or 52 AD, when Peter, James and John finally make a gentleman’s agreement with the Apostle Paul that they would confine their ministry to Israel and they would quit sticking their nose in Paul’s dealing with the Gentiles, and Paul and Barnabas could go to the Gentiles). All right, now then, here’s where James, of the James and Peter and John that writes in the back of our Bible - this is the statement that James makes at the end of this counsel in Jerusalem. Starting in verse 13: 
Simeon (or Peter) hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name." The house of Cornelius, when Peter was forced by the miraculous power of God to go to that Gentile Roman household, and he saw the proof that God was now saving Gentiles - even those pagan Romans, see? All right, so James says, "this is the conclusion that at the first He did visit the Gentiles to take out of them (out of the Gentiles) a people for His name." The calling out of the Church, the Body of Christ, the calling out a people from amongst the Gentiles) I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David,…" This top timeline was interrupted because God is going to call out a people for His name beginning with the Apostle Paul there in about 40 AD, and that is still going on today. And since this top timeline was interrupted, God just funneled the Nation of Israel because of their unbelief, back into the flow of humanity in what we call the dispersion in 70 AD, and they were scattered amongst all the Gentiles of the world. 
So that message was called the Gospel of the Kingdom. Repentance and water baptism was also preached under that Gospel of the Kingdom. Peter and the Eleven are still preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom to the Jews, and Paul has now begun to preach the Gospel of Grace to the Gentiles. There’s one Gospel for Jew and Gentile, black and white, rich and poor - there is only one plan of salvation today. 
It’s going to be caught up in what we call Paul’s teaching of the Rapture. 
This Body of Christ out of the Gentile world can also include some Jews, we’re not going to leave them out. It was appropriate for the Jews of Peter’s day because they thought this was all coming, and it’s appropriate for the Jews of today. Now the question came up at break time, "Was Peter looking for the Rapture? It’s found over in II Peter. All right, so before Peter loses his life, and as he writes his second letter, verse 15 of chapter 3, a verse I’ve used many, many times to show how that even Peter now recognizes that Paul is now the man of the hour. It’s Paul’s epistles where the human race has to go for all their instructions during the Church Age. II Peter 3:15-16a 
God has always been concerned about the salvation of lost humanity.) even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath (past tense, it’s all done) written unto you;" (Jews) 16. All right, so he says finishing the verse. 
II Peter 3:16b 
All right, so now then we’ve established that after the Church Age is finished and the Body of Christ is Raptured out, then the Tribulation is still facing the whole human race, and Israel in particular. All right, so now we’ll start looking at the little letter of James. James chapter 1 verse 1. James 1:1 
"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to (now watch this - my, I guess if I’ve taught anything over the years, it’s to watch who a portion of Scripture is written to. Who are these scattered Jews to whom James is writing? Well, they were Jewish believers of the Kingdom Gospel that Jesus was the Christ, but they had been ravaged by the persecution of Saul of Tarsus. 
Well, who was that assembly at Jerusalem? Believing Jews. So that Jerusalem congregation of believing Jews that believed that Jesus was the Christ, was a goodly number. The apostles!

It’s the Word of God that is powerful. James 1:1 
"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." James 1:2 
So remember, these little Jewish epistles at the back are written primarily to encourage Jewish believers under the pressures of persecution and hatred. Then Christ would return to the Mt. of Olives and set up His Kingdom (promised to Israel), and then Israel could be priests of Jehovah and they, in turn, could reach out to the Gentile world. Now that’s the whole Old Testament program in a nutshell. 
Remember Peter is addressing the Nation of Israel. The thought goes right on in to verse 20. The times of refreshing would come when... 
God would send Jesus Christ. Where would God send Him? Back to Jerusalem to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies. 
Jesus couldn’t just return to the world as it was. He couldn’t return to that sinners’ planet covered with all the wickedness of mankind and set up His Kingdom. Now, you’ve heard me allude to this on the program many, many times. Well, that’s what God’s going to do with all of man’s activity. Can God have all these nightclubs and these discos and these gambling casinos in His Kingdom? Whom heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things." Now my oldest son and his son are getting interested in restoring old cars and stuff like that. I like to read about restored tractors and stuff like that. Alright, that’s what Peter is talking about in restitution. Start at verse 30: 
Jeremiah 25:30 
"Therefore prophesy thou (this is telling Israel what’s coming in their future) against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, (what’s that a reference to? Reading on in verse 31. 
Jeremiah 25:31-32a 
They’ve rejected Him. It’s absolutely awful. Jeremiah 25:32b 
Alright, back to Acts chapter 3. Peter wants the Nation of Israel to repent of their sins. Alright, read verse 21, again now, in light of what we’ve just read: 
Acts 3:21 
"Whom the heaven must receive (or hold) until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." Alright now let’s go down to verse 24: 
Acts 3:24 
Peter isn’t talking about 2000 AD. So that, within a matter of 10 or 20 years, Christ would be ready to return and set up the Kingdom. That’s all Peter knows. Now let’s read on in verse 25, and this isn’t Church language... 
"Ye are the children of the prophets…" Israel - not the Gentile world, but Israel. Now as prophecy is fulfilled on Israel the whole Gentile world will get involved, of course. 
Acts 3:25 
"Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed."God is using this man, who was not one of the Twelve, but one of the six to make a last appeal to the Nation of Israel. And we don’t have time to take it verse by verse, but we’ll just hit the highlights. So let’s begin in Acts chapter 6, verse 15. 
Acts 6:15 
The religious leaders of Israel. 2. And he said, Men, brethren and fathers,…." 
How many Gentiles would a Jew call his father? Now let’s go all the way up to the end of his message - let’s go to chapter 7 and begin with verse 51, Stephen is now ending up and remember he’s addressing the elite of Israel. "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: (or Spirit) as your fathers did, (back in history) so do ye. 55. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing (not seated) on the right hand of God," 
Psalms 110:1, "Come and sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool." The next verse: 
59. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Saul of Tarsus: 
Now looking again at the timeline as far as we’ve come, all the way up through Christ’s earthly ministry - we saw He was rejected, but God rose Him from the dead; and called Him back to the right hand of the Father, waiting for the day when He could return and yet set up His kingdom. 
To the Gentiles. 
Alright, I haven’t got time, we’ll have to do it in our next program, but when we come back next month, we’re going to draw the second timeline that shows how this prophetic line is now going to be totally stopped right here after the ascension, with the Tribulation and the Kingdom Age all pushed out into the future and we’re going to come into a parenthetical period of time of 2,000 years where God is going to be dealing with the Gentiles in the Body of Christ instead of Israel.

Alright now in the last moments of our last program, we jumped on up into Christ’s earthly ministry and we showed then from chapter 9 verse 35 that He went about all the cities of the Nation of Israel, going into their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. Now granted, theres always the exceptions, but everything written in the Old Testament concerning prophecy was concerning the Nation of Israel. If it weren’t for Paul this Old Testament program is the only thing I could teach. These remaining letters are the Old Testament program. Alright, now you have Psalms chapter 2, right? 
Psalms 2:1-2a 
"Why do the heathen (the non-Jew people, the Gentiles) rage, and why do the people (Israel) imagine vain things? In other words Jew and Gentile connived together to reject the Messiah, the Christ. Now verse 3. 
Psalms 2:3 
Now look at verse 4. 
Psalms 2:4 
Now verse 5: 
Psalms 2:5 
"Then (time word. Then the next verse in Psalms 2 is verse 6: 
Psalms 2:6 
The King! Well you see, the whole purpose of those three years of ministry and miracle after miracle after miracle was to prove to the Nation of Israel that He was that Messiah. Matthew 16:13 
Matthew 16:14 
Israel’s unbelief that after three years of miracle after miracle after miracle. Matthew 16:15 
Now here comes Peter’s profession of faith. Matthew 16:16 
"And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, (the Messiah, the Anointed One) the Son of the living God." Period! All Peter believed was that Jesus was the Christ. There is not a word about believing in His death, burial, and resurrection as required in Paul’s Gospel for the Church Age. Matthew 16:17 
It’s just an extension of all the Old Testament prophecies except now they have fulfilled the rejection, and Christ’s resurrection and the ascension, but other than that everything is still based on the Old Testament promises that God the Son is going to be the King of Israel. God the Son has gone back to Heaven. God the Spirit has come down and has manifested himself, but now look what Peter says in verse 22. The Temple is still operating, remember and Peter says: 
"Ye men of Israel, (how many Gentiles are in there? Him, (speaking of the Messiah)being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,…," God wasn’t taken by surprise when they rejected Him. Any reference to Israel’s salvation yet? NO! You all know Psalms 110:1 "The Lord said unto my Lord, come sit at my right hand until (time word) I make your enemies your footstool." The end of the Tribulation when God will have destroyed the enemy and then He will set up His kingdom. 
Not a word about being a salvation for the Nation of Israel. Yes, you killed Him but God raised Him from the dead, the Kingdom is still valid. Verse 34: 
"For David is not ascended into the heavens; but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my LORD, (now he’s quoting Psalms 110 verse 1) Sit thou on my right hand, 35. Until…"Now every Jew knew that word "until" was a time word. That after He had sat at the Father’s right hand for a given period of time, He would yet be returning to set up the Kingdom. Now read on: 
That yes, you killed the Messiah, but God raised Him from the dead. Verse 38: 
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent,…" Having killed and rejected the Messiah. It was a horrible national sin for Israel to have rejected their promised Messiah. Repent is the message! 
"Then Peter said unto them, (Israel) Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,…" Well, this was a national thing concerning Israel, that they were to repent of having crucified the Messiah Who was now alive and well at the Father’s right hand waiting for the day when He could yet return and give the Nation of Israel her King. 
Alright so the admonition for the Jew of Peter’s Pentecostal audience was repent and be baptized. Who was the first one that preached that to Israel? John the Baptist! "Repent," Peter says. 
Okay, chapter 3 verse 12. They have just healed the lame man much like they did in Christ’s earthly ministry. why marvel ye at this? 13. The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, (see how Jewish this is? Even though Israel killed Him, what did God do? Israel isn’t going to stop God’s program. 
"…whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses." There’s no salvation attached to that death, burial and resurrection. It’s just a fact for Israel to understand that even though they killed the King, God raised Him from the dead and He is still able to be their King. The Kingdom!)To be the King. Israel is told to repent and God will yet send His Son to be their King.

James 1:1-2
Alright now in the last moments of our last program, we jumped on up into Christ’s earthly ministry and we showed then from chapter 9 verse 35 that He went about all the cities of the Nation of Israel, going into their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. Now granted, theres always the exceptions, but everything written in the Old Testament concerning prophecy was concerning the Nation of Israel. If it weren’t for Paul this Old Testament program is the only thing I could teach. These remaining letters are the Old Testament program. Alright, now you have Psalms chapter 2, right?
Psalms 2:1-2a
"Why do the heathen (the non-Jew people, the Gentiles) rage, and why do the people (Israel) imagine vain things? In other words Jew and Gentile connived together to reject the Messiah, the Christ. Now verse 3.

Hebrews 12:18 – 13:25 - Part 2 
We’re just going to get right back into the Book and Hebrews chapter 13 verse 10. Remember I’m always stressing I feel Paul wrote this Book of Hebrews, especially when he made mention of the Body, back there in one of the previous verses. Alright now he’s says in verse 10: 
Hebrews 13:10 
Because, after all, until Paul’s epistles were completed, and the Age of Grace was now made available, the Temple was necessary. It was the only approach to God. But now with the Age of Grace opened up and Paul’s epistles finished, God could permit the Temple to be destroyed, and it was. Hebrews 13:11 
Now the same here in Hebrews is a reference to the city of Jerusalem. And even in the Temple worship those beasts’ bodies were not burned there in the Temple complex, they were taken outside the city wall. Now verse 12. 
Hebrews 13:12 
Alright so it was all in a fulfillment of God’s divine purposes, so Christ also, you see, suffered outside the city walls. 
Hebrews 13:13 
"Let us (now then as believers) go forth therefore unto him without (or outside) the camp, (or outside the city) bearing his reproach." We’ve glorified it. We’ve taken away the enigma and the shame and the reproach of the cross. But oh, it was a place of horrible shame and reproach. There isn’t a man alive that can understand all that took place at that cross. When God reckoned all the sin of mankind as having been placed on the sin-bearer. 
Mercy! See, that’s why I maintain it’s no longer mandatory for us to pray the so called "sinners prayer – God be merciful to me a sinner." God poured out His mercy. From the very onset of Paul’s apostleship it was almost a guaranteed step leading to persecution. It was a place of reproach. Now verse 14. 
Hebrews 13:14a 
The Bible says, I’m a citizen of heaven, and every believer is. Our citizenship, Paul says, is already in heaven. Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker was God. 
An ambassador. It was an exposure of the horrible lifestyle of our American foreign service people, how that they lived lives of drunkenness and immorality in their places of duty in foreign countries. Ugly Christians are Christians who are a bad reflection of their homeland in heaven. And so here we are to identify with the reproach of the cross, not a place of something beautiful. It was God’s wrath being poured out for sinful men on God the Son. Now verse 15. 
Hebrews 13:15 
Thanksgiving. If you’re not living a life of thanksgiving, don’t expect God’s blessings, because God has every right for a believer to just constantly be thankful. Here Paul writes to you and I as blood-bought believers. 
Romans 12:1 
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies (your flesh and blood body) a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Gives up its life. Verse 15 again: 
Hebrews 13:15a 
Hebrews 13:15 
"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." Your body! If you want to live a life that is pleasing to God, a living sacrifice, all you have to do is just use your lips in praise and thanksgiving and God will be pleased. Alright, so we offer up the sacrifice of praise once a month? "Continually," Every waking moment of our lives we should be just simply praising God in one way or another. Well, you think God’s any different? Hebrews 13:16 
"But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." Now verse 17. Hebrews 13:17 
Now then, in the closing verses of Hebrews, verse 18 to the end. Hebrews 13:18 
Now verse 19. 
Hebrews 13:19 
Now verse 20: 
Hebrews 13:20a 
"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,…" Some even thought the whole Bible was the Gospel. That great Shepherd of the sheep. "The Lord is my shepherd…" Jesus then said, "Feed my sheep." And the Lord comes back again with "Peter, lovest thou me more than these?" And Peter answers again, "Lord you know I love you." And again Jesus says, "Feed my sheep." Now isn’t it amazing that Peter, a man’s man, agreed to that with a handshake. Galatians chapter 2; and remember the setting. Paul has been out ministering to Gentiles for about 15-18 years, but what’s been happening? Galatians 2:8 
Now here comes that gentlemen’s handshake between Peter and Paul. 
Galatians 2:9 
that we (Paul and Barnabas) should go unto the heathen, (or the Gentiles) and they (Peter, James and John and rest of the apostles would go where?) unto the circumcision." (The Jew or Israel). Now verse 21. 
Hebrews 13:21a 
through Jesus Christ;…" "I can do all things through Jesus Christ my Lord." Hebrews 13:21-23a 
Paul. And so here’s another reason I feel Paul is the writer. 
Hebrews 13:23-25 
Amen."
