In Crossing Over Part II, God has prepared a land for His people where He wants them to dwell and enjoy His blessings. The initial crossing over in every Christian's life is the crossing over from the domain of darkness into the marvelous light (from condemnation to salvation). Jesus fights all our battles and leads us into the promises of God, our Father, who is our way over.

Crossing Over Part II (Joshua 3:7-17)

While you are in transition and waiting to cross over to the land God has promised you, remember how God has been with you, how He has kept you and how, in the past, He has displayed His power. In remembrance of this, be confidence in the present and walk confidently in God's purpose for you and for the church, corporately.

Providence of God: Praying for Joshua (Deuteronomy 3:21-28)

When you are preparing to enter into the promise land, you must remind yourself that there is non like the God of Jeshurun (God of the righteous). Despite our faults, we are referred to as 'righteous' because Jesus Christ has given us His righteousness.<br />

You must also remember God is your security, protection and shelter. As you enter the promise land, you will see a land flowing with milk and honey complete with vineyards you did not plant and houses that you did not build. Even while you are in the promise land, you must remember God is your shelter and your refuge.

Preparing for the Promise (Deuteronomy 33:26-27)

God made Joshua a promise, "Just as I was with Moses so also will I be with you." Joshua was trustworthy and true man of God who was willing to fight in the valley while Moses remained on the mountain top. He embodied a trustworthy and faithful spiritual leader who was willing to serve the Lord even in the valley. God's purpose for Joshua's life was to impact the lives of the children of Israel and lead them to a certain point before he too would transition.

God's Word Never Fails (Joshua 23:14)

Jesus Christ has the power to give us peace in any predicament, situation or problem that we find ourselves faced with. God wants us to enjoy the peace that He gives us through His son, Jesus Christ.

Peace Under Pressure (Psalm 4:6-8)

Jesus Christ will faithfully complete the work of salvation He began in us by His eternal power and according to His eternal plan. The finished work of Jesus Christ is the basis for the joyful security for every saved saint of God. The God who saved us is also the God who sustains us and seals us until the day of redemption.

The Faithful Finisher (Philippians 1:6)

Job teaches us that our praise is not predicated on how we perceive our specific situations or pain. On contrary, our praise is predicated on a God that is more powerful than anything we can experience in this world. Job is actively walking out his Christian commitment when he endures demonic opposition. Through demonic opposition, Job suffers financial loss and experiences bereavement, due to the loss of his ten children. Also, Job becomes ill and begins to have difficulty with his wife. Most importantly, Job begins to experience spiritual pain. However, throughout all of these hardships, Job continues to praise God.

Wednesday in the Word: He Knows the Way (Job 23:10-14)

Jesus, being fully God and fully man, took time out of the agony of crucifixion to demonstrate the depth of a mother's love for her son and a child's love for their mother. Jesus states to the Apostle John, "John, she's now your mother." He also says to Mary, His mother, "Mary, behold your son," referring to the Apostle John. Mary, in turn, demonstrates her love for Jesus by refusing to leave the cross even though she sees the very son she had carried for nine months being crucified for no fault of His own.<br />

In Genesis chapter 21, we see a similar demonstration between Hagar and her son Ishmael. This demonstration can be broken down into three parts: the break-up, the breakdown, and the breakthrough.

A Mother's Love (Genesis 21:14-19)

Jesus’ commitment to doing the will of the Father ought to translate into the Christian’s commitment. In Luke 4:40-41, Jesus has been battling the devil and the woes of the world all day long, but as the sun is setting, He realizes there is still work to do. Despite being tired, hungry, and thirsty, Jesus continues to work. Jesus continues to work because he knows night will come when no man can work. Therefore as Christians, we too ought to do all we can while we can.

The Committed Christ: Luke 4:40-41

The message of the cross and the gospel of Jesus Christ are the reasons why we are still in this world. Once we are saved and once we have trusted in Jesus Christ we are on our way to heaven. However, he has left here in order to be light in a dark world. He has also left here to answer the world’s question: What must I do to be saved?

What Must I do to be Saved? Acts 16:27-34

If Jesus Christ’s commitment to His father cost Him something then our commitment to Jesus Christ will cost us something. A commitment to Jesus Christ may cost you economically, socially, emotionally, and physically. All of those that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. This persecution is not meant to harm the Christian, but rather God uses suffering in a saint as a backdrop to display His glory to a world that is also suffering.

The Cost of  of Commitment (Acts 16:19-24)

Stepping out with God is a faith move. As Christians, we ought to always be open to the voice of God with a surrendered ear (to listen out), surrendered feet (to get out), surrendered will (to stay out), and a surrendered hand (to give out). God specializes in taking the ordinary and accomplishing the incredible. God blesses those who are obedient to His voice and His will.

True greatness extends beyond this world and is the essence of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is great because He does not treat us as our sins deserve. He is also great because he walked in this world for 33 years and never committed a sin. Instead, Jesus Christ lived a perfect life dedicated to helping others. Ultimately, He sacrificed his life so that we all might be saved. For us to become great, we must walk in a way that leads us to become more like Jesus Christ.

True Greatness: Mark 9:31-35

On the highway to Heaven be sure that the changes happening around you do not cause you to have a collision in your confidence in Jesus Christ. When God is taking you somewhere in Jesus Christ, He will not allow you to stay in the same place. Things will change around you and you will become uncomfortable when you are seeking the will of God and seeking to live for God. However, while change can be difficult, Christ is always dependable.

Trusting God Through Transition: Psalm 106:7-12, 43-48

Psalm 107 provides us with four snapshots on how God delivers His people. It is difficult to show gratitude to God when you have not experienced anything with Him. With God, you can survive despair, beverement, fear, low-esteem, and a habitual, sinful habits. The only way we can have a miraculous and astounding testimony is trust in God while in the middle of a storm.

Surviving the Storm: Psalm 107:23-31

“Fear not” is a phrase that Jesus uses repeatedly because every fear of man and circumstances is mistrust of God. It is impossible to please God without trusting in Him and placing our faith in Him. Fear is a hypothetical emotional high jacker of the peace and faith we ought always to enjoy. In fact, most of things we are afraid of do not even happen. On the contrary, faith stabilizes, mobilizes, and energizes children of God.

The Faith that Conquers Fear: Psalm 56:1-13

It’s hard to lean on Jesus when you believe you can do things in your own strength or believe you have your life in your own hands. The power we have is predicated on our ability to recognize our frailty and lean on Jesus who has all power. There are times when God allows us to come to situations of fatigue, desperation, and confusion so that we have no choice but to lean on Jesus.

Lean on God: Psalm 55:16-23

Sin cannot be cherished, coddled, encouraged, or celebrated while in the pursuit of living an effective life. When we recognize sin in our own lives we must be willing to acknowledge it, confess it to God, and forsake it so that we can be all that God wants us to be.  Forgiveness is the greatest need of mankind and we cannot fully experience the forgiveness of God if we continue to sin as if God has never forgiven us.

The Blessing of Forgiveness - Psalm 32:1-5

Satan is an expert at painting temptation as a pretty picture. However, the reality is that temptation is no more than an invitation to act outside the will of God. The devil uses temptation to try to disrupt the fellowship a Christian enjoys with Jesus Christ. When we yield to temptation we sacrifice the opportunity to say “Lord I love you by the way I live and the way I walk.” To eliminate temptation in our lives we must avoid seeing reality through our eyes, but instead walk by faith in God's word.

Fighting Temptation Part III (The Lust of the Eyes): Luke 4:5-8

Part II of Fighting Temptation illustrates how the devil uses temptation to try to destroy the fellowship between God and Christians. He tries to do this in three ways: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The devil uses the pride of life to tempt us to doubt God’s goodness and to pridefully seek to provide for our flesh outside of God’s will. The key to overcoming temptation is to be led by the spirit of God and to obey and yield to the word of God.
