The Sins Of Israel - Amos 2:8-16

Israel’s acts of injustice is seen in that they sold the righteous for money. This meant that they sold their poor fellow Israelite into slavery. Considering that those who were shipwrecked spent three months on the island, that gave Paul and his ministry companions more time to minister to other sections of the island. We know from what is stated in verse ten that they were amply supplied with the necessary things by the natives upon their departure. In his true Lucan style, Luke gives us details about the type of ship and the special features that marked it. He went on to describe the various other ports that they stopped until they reached Rome. A stop at Puteoli brought them in contact with some brethren with whom they stayed for seven days, (28:14)

The book of Acts was written by Luke. He recorded the events surrounding Saul’s encounter with the Lord on the road to Damascus in chapter 9. Since Luke did not become a part of Paul missionary team until his second tour, he must have received this information from another source, possibly, from Paul himself. The details of the account, as given by Paul in his defense, mirrors the account of chapter 9. 
Paul is not in Roman custody after he was rescued by the Roman law enforcement officers before the Asian Jews could kill him. Orders were given by the centurion to take Paul to the Roman barracks for his safety. Realizing that there was an opportunity to address the crowd, Paul sought the permission of the officer, who gave him the go ahead. 
Paul commences his address with his respectable greetings, referring to the audience as brethren and fathers. Upon hearing Paul speaking in Hebrew Aramaic and not Greek, the crowd quieted down and began listening to him, (22:2).

An Unforgettable Encounter Acts 22:1-17

The second forty-year episode of Moses is recounted for us by Stephen. He is now the God-appointed ruler and deliverer for the descendants of Jacob. Stephen drove home the point by reminding his listeners that it was this same Moses that they had previously disowned. The generation before them has questioned the legitimacy of Moses’ leadership. He did not fit the profile of a judge of deliverer. And just like we are today, if the candidate does not fit the description of who we are looking for, that person is not going to be getting the second look. 
Moses return to Egypt with a different set of credentials. Unrecognized by Pharaoh but approved by God. God will only send his angel to accompany those that He approves. One man approved by God and one of God’s angelic messenger will be able to stand up against the host of adversaries. Moses knew that he was not alone.
