Our Gospel lesson for today begins immediately where we left off last week with Jesus and His disciples still in the Upper Room on Holy Thursday, shortly before His betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion.

Our Gospel lesson for today begins immediately where we left off last week with Jesus and His disciples still in the Upper Room on Holy Thursday, shortly before His betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion.

In today’s Gospel, we find Jesus in the middle of His Sermon on the Mount. And in this portion of His sermon, He is teaching about criticism. 

And His teaching is put in the form of a command: “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven…”

As we study today’s text, I have to warn you, it’s going to sting a bit!

In essence, He told us it’s the awesome power of God’s Word with its supernatural ability given by His Spirit, that catches souls for the kingdom; Not gimmicks, not human works or cunning, not a new and trendy environment, but the Word of God. 
 
And Jesus said when His Word is taught and shared in its truth and purity, it has the power to do great things for God! 
 
Because this entire concept is so important for every Christian to know, I want to build upon the importance of that message, again today.
