This morning, we continue our study in St. Luke’s Gospel, moving now into the 15th chapter. This 15th chapter of Luke’s Gospel is often considered the golden center of his writing since it describes so wonderfully the love of Jesus for lost and condemned sinners. 
 
And that’s what we’ll see today as we again find Jesus instructing us through two of His most enlightening parables, the parable of the lost sheep, and the parable of the lost coin.

In today’s Gospel, we see that Jesus has now left the house of the ruler of the Pharisees to continue His journey toward Jerusalem and His appointment with the cross. That is when Jesus spoke provocative words that, well, don’t really sound like Jesus!

The truth is, most of Jesus’ preaching as He traveled throughout the towns and villages, journeying toward Jerusalem, consisted of numerous warnings; Warnings that the time is short; Warnings that Judgment is coming for everyone; Warnings that calling yourself a Christian doesn’t mean anything, if you don’t possess a saving faith in the Lord Christ as defined within the Bible.
