This morning’s Gospel continues in St. Mark from where we left off last week, where Jesus, after being rejected in His hometown of Nazareth, had commissioned the twelve apostles to go out, two by two, proclaiming to the people to repent for the kingdom of heaven was at hand.

And while today’s study has a common theme and subject matter with last week’s study, it is not directly about Jesus, it’s a familiar and gruesome text about John the Baptist and Herod Antipas, one of the sons of sinful King Herod the Great.
