Deception Attacking Households!
2 Timothy 3:6-9

Key Verse: “For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible woman loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Tim 3:6-7

Context:
- Perilous Times! 2 Tim 3:1-5

Outline: Jannes & Jambres idol worshippers sorcerers, magicians, enchantments.
People afflicting the disciples and church.

1) People creeping into households with false truth v6 creeping – sneaking, snaking
a. Making captive of gullible woman gullible – naive, trusting, unexperienced
i. Loaded down with sin sin – evil, transgression, crimes
ii. Lead away by various lust lust – longing, hunger, desires, thirst
2) People learning but have no truth v7
a. Always learning learning – educate, understand
b. Not able to come to the knowledge
i. Of the truth
3) People resisting the truth v8 7.11-Exod.7.12" class="scriptRef">Ex 7:11, 12, 22: 8:7, 18; 9:11
a. Jannes and Jambres enchantment – allure, charm, fascination, captivation
b. Resisted Moses
c. Resisted the truth resisted – reject, refuse, oppose
d. Men of corrupt minds corrupt – dishonest, immoral, crooked
e. Disapproved concerning the faith disapproved – rejected, condemn, disliked
4) People progressing no further in truth v9
a. Folly will be manifested to all folly – foolishness, stupidity, madness, recklessness
b. As theirs also was

Reflection:
Paul’s deep desire for Timothy was that he would be a strong leader, guiding the Ephesian church into a deeper understanding concerning certain kinds of people and how to handle these people with their deceptive truth that they profess to others in these last days. There will be people who will be like Jannes and Jambres who where idol worshipper, people who where sorcerers, magicians, and enchanters. Making it look like they were connected to God by doing various signs and wonders, but the truth was they were men of corrupt minds desiring to control and destroy the people of God.
