The Cause of Division…
1 Corinthians 3:1-9
Division - the action of separating something into parts or the process of being separated; disagreement between two or more groups, typically producing tension or hostility.
Paul has identified the problem of Division in the church at Corinth and he seeks to resolve the problem. 1 Corinthians 1:10-13
The only way to resolve a problem is to find its source or cause, that is what Paul addresses in our text.
I. Paul identifies the cause of division. – (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)
II. Paul reveals the characteristics of division. – (1 Corinthians 3:3-4)
Division is caused by:
1.) Jealousy
2.) Strife
III. Paul shares the way division can be circumvented. – (1 Corinthians 3:5-9)
Application:
Remember we are all called into Christ by God, not because of ourselves, nor by anything we bring to the table, but it is all of Mercy and Grace.
Powerful Point of Application that will erase division:
Since we have received God’s mercy and grace, we are called to be dispensers of that mercy and grace to others. When our focus is upon sharing God’s grace, division cannot live, because the Gospel is bringing us together.
