Clear Lake Bible Church

Our study this week is Exodus 17. It has been approximately three months (Exodus 16:1), since the Israelites left Egypt and are continuing their journey through the desert. Once again, they find themselves without water and as before (Exodus 15:22-24), they complain to Moses. But this time they threaten to kill him. Moses cries out for God’s help and God responds by providing water from a rock at Rephidim. 
Sometime later, the Amalekites, descendants of Esau (Genesis 36:12), and a bitter enemy of the Israelites from the Esau-Jacob rivalry, attack the Israelites at Rephidim. Through the military leadership of Joshua and the intercessory prayers of Moses, the Amalekites are defeated. God then instructs Moses to record the event in a book as a testimony for future generations. During times of uncertainty, is your spiritual journey filled with anxiety or with assurance? When things seem out of your control always remember, you aren’t…but God is!

The LORD is My Banner: Exodus 17:1-16

This week we will look at the end of Aaron back to Pharaoh to demand that the Hebrews are let go. Moses has already been told that Pharaoh’s heart will be hardened and that he will not listen. They are instructed to strike the water with the staff and turn it to blood. All of the water is turned to blood including the water that has been stored in vessels. Pharaoh’s magicians come and are also able to turn some water to blood. Pharaoh is not impressed with the miraculous works and ignores God’s demand. Join us this week as we talk about the miraculous work of God and the hardened heart of Pharaoh.

A Bloody Mess Exodus 7:14-25

This week we will look at Moses’ response after his first encounter with Pharaoh does not bring good results. At the end of Chapter 5 of Exodus Moses returns to the Lord. Then in chapter 6 and the beginning of 7 we see God reassure Moses that He is in control and that He will deliver the people. Things get worse for Moses and the Israelites before they get better, but Moses continues to trust God and carry out His plan. Join us this week as we consider the difficulty of following all that God says along with the benefit of being faithful to His Word.

God&#39;s Assurance; Exodus 5:22-7:13

Before the Lord Jesus ascended into Heaven, He appointed every believer to fulfill the “Great Commission" 
 
”All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 
(Matthew 28:19-20). 
 
For many practicing Christians, this calling is often referred to as the “Great Omission.” Jesus expects all believers to be in His employ… never intending that they should be idle or live for themselves. To fulfill this calling, Jesus directs, supports and empowers us to accomplish His tasks, holding us accountable for our time and talents. So, the question each of us must ask is: Have we answered the call?”

Do You Have a Calling? Matthew 1:16-20, 2:13-14

This week we’ll take a look at Isaiah x30:1-26. In this passage we see Israel willingly choose to trust Egypt for protection in spite of all God has done for them and delivered them from. Because of this, God lays out a series of consequences that will befall Israel for her betrayal, and tells them that their hope for protection from Egypt will bring nothing but shame and humiliation. But God shows His kind, loving heart even in this. He then tells Israel how He waits to show them mercy and guide them back on righteous paths, if only they’d cry out to Him. Join us this week as we discover how we can access the forgiveness and mercy God waits to show us.

This week will start a study in the book of 1 Timothy. 1 Timothy is a deeply personal letter written by the apostle Paul to his son in 
the faith, Timothy. Timothy had traveled with Paul at times and had learned to follow Christ through Paul’s teaching and example. Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to lead the church in Paul’s absence. Later Paul writes the letter, 1 Timothy, to give Timothy instruction on how to lead the church. Paul starts the letter emphasizing the teaching of God’s redemptive plan. He then tells how the Law is necessary 
for those that have no morality. Paul is then quick to say that he is the worst of all sinners but God has given him grace. Join us this 
week as we talk about both our need for the boundaries of the Law and our desperate need for grace.

The Pharisees were often more concerned about what other people thought of them than how they could help others. At the end of Jesus’ life He clearly shows what true service is by sacrificing Himself for the sins of the world. Join us this week as we worship God for who He is and encourage each other to be a reflection of Him and His light in our service to others.

Jesus of casting out the demon by the power of Beelzebul. Jesus points out to them that a house divided cannot stand thus he is not using the power of Satan to cast out Satan’s demons. 
Jesus goes on to give us further understanding about demons and the importance of not leaving the house empty after a demon leaves. In our world today often we don’t talk about demons. However the Scriptures talk a great deal about them. Join us this week as we talk 
about the power and authority Jesus has over all things and we remember that He has shown this power through the sign of Jonah.

This week in Luke chapter 9 we see two familiar passages. The first is the call to discipleship when Jesus tells the disciples that they must pick up their cross and follow Him. This would not have been easy for the disciples to understand as it took place before Jesus goes to the cross. It is a had teaching for us today as well when we consider the challenges of following Jesus. The second part of the 
passage we are looking at is the Transfiguration when Jesus is transformed and talks with Moses and Elijah. It is good for the disciples to see the glory of the transformed Lord after being challenged with this difficult teaching. We must also remember the brilliance and glory of the Lord as we face the challenges of walking in His ways. Join us this week as we seek the glory of the Lord.
